The White Fragility Scale can help us identify - and address - when we find it hard to talk about racism

I promised I’d share it on today’s Bad People ep: https://t.co/j9EcY4Du8B

Note, if the existence of the scale makes you uncomfortable, that’s the epitome of white fragility https://t.co/bqKtXzhXwo

As the authors of the scale write:

“to only view racism as an unfortunate problem experienced by people of color without simultaneously breaking down the structures of Whiteness that enable White supremacy to continue, does little to ultimately eradicate its existence”

“White fragility centers the emotional and behavioral responses of White [people], which function in a more primitive, self-protective manner intended to guard against racial threat and (re)establish feelings of comfort and superiority” Langrehr et al, 2021
