Discovery at former residential school in Kamloops, B.C., has led to calls for action

There is also a number of 10,028 unmarked graves (with only ten residential school sites searched). I have seen this number being shared on social media but cannot confirm.

This infographic is an ongoing project meant to help put things in perspective. By the time you are seeing it, more children may have been found. The schools in the original graphic represent the 139 Residential Schools that the Canadian Federal Government accepted legal responsibility for in the Indian Residential School Survivor (IRSS) Settlement. In reality, there were far more. It is estimated that 1300 such schools in Canada(see the second graphic).
Currently represented: 215 Kamloops, BC / 104 Brandon, MB / 38 Regina, SK / 35 Muskowekwan , SK / 751 Cowessess, SK / 182 Ktunaxa, BC / 160 Penelakut, BC / 35 Lestock, SK / 161 NWT / 39 Calgary Dunbow Industrial School , AB / 74 Battleford Industrial School, SK
The graphics do not currently include residential schools in the US, though I am tracking those counts as well (180 Carlisle, PA / 227 Mt. Pleasant, MI). That graphic may come. If anyone knows of a reliable website tracking the numbers for Canada and/or the USA, please share. I am currently working off headlines, which can be missed.
