DENIALISM

When denialists try to say "not everyone was abused" in residential schools.
Its a catchphrase to use as propaganda.
Half truths. Lies. Confuse.
It is a way to manipulate the public opinion. It prays on the Anti-Indigenous hate that is underneath the surface of every canadian.
Yes, some may not have experienced the sexual or physical abuse. But most were aware of the abuse going on around them. Imagine the terror that you could be next.
It does not mean they weren't abused in a variety of other ways. There was still abuses going on - no matter what these denialists say.
For one, loss of culture. That is a form of abuse.
There was psychological abuse (emotional/mental): cutting hair, being kidnapped, severed connection to the lands, no family contact, cant go home, unable to see parents, religious abuse.
The religious abuse: forced indoctrination, cultural self-hate, brainwashing, fear of hell, mixed in with sexual & physical abuse.
The damage done to the children's psyche is immeasurable.
All of these abuses and we still didn't cover the experiments; nutrition, medical, starvation, a colony on existing reserves, electric chair, solidarity confinement, etc.
The governments made laws for the parents to give up their children to residential schools or face jail time.
These separate laws for First Nation parents was a form of abuse!
As adults, there was loss of tradition, shame, not passing on of language or culture, non-parenting skills, emotionally detached.
All of which is trauma from abuse.
We, as First Nations, already know all of these stories. The denialists do not care to be educated on any of it. They have their own agenda.
Denialists are the new priests and nuns.
It is evil passed on through generations. From one white family to the next white family.
We - the First Nation people - have nothing to reconcile - canada does.
It is canadians who need to hear our truths and reconcile their relationship with us.
